referia ao politetrafluoroetileno, que foi descoberto acidentalmente pelo qu\u00edmico Dr. Roy J. Quando ele tentou fazer um novo refrigerante de clorofluorocarbono, o politetrafluoroetileno polimerizou em um recipiente de armazenamento de alta press\u00e3o (o ferro na parede interna do recipiente se tornou um catalisador para a rea\u00e7\u00e3o de polimeriza\u00e7\u00e3o). A DuPont obteve sua patente em 1941 e registrou a marca comercial sob o nome &#8220;Teflon&#8221; em 1944. Cientistas descrevem a inven\u00e7\u00e3o do PTFE como &#8220;uma coincid\u00eancia, um lampejo de inspira\u00e7\u00e3o, um acidente de sorte &#8211; ou mesmo uma mistura dos tr\u00eas&#8221;. Seja qual for o caso, uma coisa \u00e9 certa: o PTFE revolucionou a ind\u00fastria de pl\u00e1sticos e gerou infinitas aplica\u00e7\u00f5es que beneficiam a humanidade.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1938: Roy J. Plunkett, um qu\u00edmico da DuPont, descobriu acidentalmente o PTFE enquanto estudava refrigerantes.<\/li>\n<li>Durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial: o PTFE foi usado para fins militares devido \u00e0 sua excelente in\u00e9rcia qu\u00edmica e isolamento el\u00e9trico, como material isolante no Projeto Manhattan da bomba at\u00f4mica.<\/li>\n<li>Comercializa\u00e7\u00e3o: Em 1945, a DuPont come\u00e7ou a comercializar o PTFE e o nomeou Teflon. Ele tem uma s\u00e9rie de propriedades e vantagens \u00fanicas, que o fazem superar outros materiais pl\u00e1sticos em muitos aspectos, ent\u00e3o o Teflon tem a reputa\u00e7\u00e3o de &#8220;Rei dos Pl\u00e1sticos&#8221; e tem excelente resist\u00eancia a altas temperaturas (resist\u00eancia \u00e0 temperatura: -200\u2103~+260\u00b0C). O Teflon \u00e9 amplamente utilizado em muitos campos industriais, como ind\u00fastria qu\u00edmica, transporte ferrovi\u00e1rio, energia, avia\u00e7\u00e3o, autom\u00f3vel e equipamentos
